Treme, a neighborhood under reconstruction
Faubourg Treme is a visual tribute to the emblematic district of New Orleans. This collection of images, captured by photographer Alexis Pazoumian, plunges us into the heart of Treme, the cradle of jazz and African-American culture. These images tell the story of a neighborhood steeped in history, which endured the horrors of Hurricane Katrina and continues to rebuild itself through music.
Storytelling through pictures
In conjunction with Alexis, the studio sought to tell this story by conceiving the layout of the book as a stroll through the streets and nooks of Treme. The choice to keep text to a minimum within the book allows the images to reveal their full expression. Accompanying the book is a small compendium of Alexis's thoughts and anecdotes for each photograph, allowing readers to delve deeper into the history of Treme and the hardships this neighborhood has endured.
Moments in life
Faubourg Treme celebrates resilience and perseverance, while paying tribute to the authenticity of this neighborhood and the magic of the music that accompanies its rebirth.
