In the Heart of the Yakut Cold
Sacha is the result of Alexis Pazoumian's deep immersion in the frozen lands of Yakutia, one of the coldest regions on earth, estimated to be warming up three times faster than the rest of the planet. He captures the essence of survival and adaptation of the inhabitants, from Yakutsk to the Evens nomads of the taiga. This book is an exploration of the interplay between the region's natural treasures, the challenges of global warming, and human endurance in the face of environmental adversity.
From one extreme to another
The book captures the essence of Alexis' journey, between the urban and wild realities of Yakutia. Conceived in close collaboration with the photographer, it retraces his journey through a narrative that takes the reader from the city of Yakutsk to the intimate life of Sasha, a reindeer herder, in the vastness of the taiga. At the center of the book, a travel diary printed in silver on black paper bridges the gap between the urbanity of Yakutsk and the harshness of the Taiga, right up to his meeting with Sacha.
Diary of a Siberian Journey
Sacha is a visual testimony, an invitation to explore, feel and understand a distant world through the prism of a passionate photographer, where every page is a window on Yakutia.
